We are excited to announce, nominations are back open for a limited time! Get your submissions in now. This year’s winners will be announced at our June State Training Conference held June 5-7th.

Award Categories

General Award Criteria: 
All nominees should regularly demonstrate the following:
– Positive attitude toward all aspects of the job
– Willingness to be a team player; earns and maintains the respect of coworkers
– Professional discipline and pride in the quality of work
– Flexibility in task assignments and ability to adapt to unusual and special circumstances

Award recipients will enjoy a paid ‘Main Conference’ registration to the State Training Conference, DATES TBD Award winners will also be given up to three (3) additional tickets for the Connect & Celebrate Dinner on TBD evening to be used for friends or family. The recipients will be brought on stage to receive their awards during this event. They will also be featured in social media releases announcing the winners.

The Awards Committee submits their final selections to the Executive Board in mid-May. Once approved, award recipients are notified of their selection by TBD

When completing your nomination for submission please ensure you have selected the correct category and that you provide as much detail about the nominee in your nomination as possible.

Please note that nominations submitted in incorrect categories will be disqualified from the judging process.

Award FAQs

A nominee must be actively employed by, or recently retired from, a public safety agency in the state of Arizona any time DATES TBD

No. Nominees do not need to be members of APCO and/or NENA.

No. You do not need to be an APCO and/or NENA member to nominate an individual or team for an award.

Not necessarily, although the strongest nomination forms include details about and examples of the nominee’s work that are most readily known by co-workers and others who are familiar with specifics about the nominees’ demonstrated commitment to their profession.

Nominations must be submitted by midnight MST, April 30th, 2023. None will be accepted after that time.

The decision to inform your nominee is yours to make. Arizona APCO/NENA does not inform individuals/agencies about their nomination unless they are selected as winners.

Some nominators choose to include the individual in the process in an effort to get as much information as possible about the nominee. The most successful nomination forms tell the story of the person being considered, and include details and examples of the nominee’s exemplary commitment and performance.

Yes. You are required to get support from your nominee’s supervisor before you begin the process. Not only is this a professional courtesy, but the supervisor may be able to provide valuable information for the nomination form.

You can submit as many nominations, in as many categories, as you like.

Yes. While there is no time limit enforced to complete the nomination, you must complete the nomination before closing your browser window or navigating away from the nomination form page.

No. After completing your nomination, you will be asked to click the ‘Submit’ box on the form. Doing so locks and submits your form for scoring.

You will receive an e-mail confirmation that your nomination has been received. However, your nominee will not receive notification. Once received, your nomination will be reviewed by members of the Awards Committee.

No. At this time, all information pertaining to the nomination must be included in your supplied answers to the questions on the form.
